Principal’s Report
Goodness how time flies I cannot believe week eight is nearly done. While there have been many awesome moments already, we have a lot of excellent events still to come this term.
Harmony Day – Friday 21st March
Last Friday, 21st March, was Harmony Day. What a lovely day we had with so many families coming along to have a picnic lunch with their children. I was impressed with many of the delicious lunches that families were eating and had brought to share on their very fancy picnic rugs. I’ll have to remember to eat before going out on duty on Harmony Day next year.
This year, there were fantastic students dressing in orange or their cultural or heritage country clothing again. I love the effort many families go to for this and other school dress up events. Many children enjoyed playing out the front of the school for a change. Others went to the oval and courts to play, and some parents filled the teams.
School Board – Monday 24th March
The School Board members and a great deal of information about the board is on the website under the Our School Menu. The minutes of meetings plus key documents are attached to the School Board website page.
This week the Spearwood Primary School Board meeting was held afterschool on Monday 24th March, 2025. At this meeting, on top of the usual financial duties, the Board reviewed the: Draft Budget, Terms of Reference, Code of Conduct, Board Advertising and Sponsorship arrangements and Community Use of the School.
The next School Board Meeting is on Monday 16th June, 2025 at 3:05 in Room 12.
The Key Business at that meeting will be: the School Dress Code, Board Membership and the Fixed Budget.
Tomorrow – Friday 28th March
Friday 28th March is our last Assembly for the Term. There will be some class news and many amazing children receiving Merit Certificate awards.
Week Ten – Coming soon
Week Ten is sneaking up on us and it is the busiest week I have ever seen on a School Calendar. All Important and or awesome things with families. Some are annual highlights of the year. We will be asking for flowers for wreaths for the ANZAC Youth March and ANZAC assembly. Each class will have a bucket for flowers in that week. You are invited to all events as spectators. To assist with Week Ten planning here is a quick summary:
Tuesday 8 April | 2:15pm Edu-Dance Concert
Wednesday 9 April | 9:45am Youth ANZAC Parade
Thursday 10 April | 9am Easter Hat Parade
Friday 11 April 9am | ANZAC Assembly | Last Day of Term |

Third Party
I have recently conducted a review of the Third Party Services we use at Spearwood Primary School to support our students’ learning. Some of these services have changed the level of consent required due to the information shared with the service or the location of where the data is stored.
In order to meet our legal obligations, all families are required to submit a new consent form. To assist with the easy collection we have created a digital form. This form will remain current whilst your child is enrolled at Spearwood Primary School, until there are further changes to the Third Party Services we use or you resubmit the form updating your consent.
Please follow the link https://forms.office.com/r/WbgXFAzDuh and submit the Third Party Services form as soon as possible.

Uniform Shop
The P & C is calling out for a parent to run the Uniform shop. The uniform shop will continue to be open for the remainder of Term One on Monday mornings however, we need new volunteers. If you are interested and able to keep the uniform shop operating, please let us know. Perhaps two parent buddies could share the job & you can pick your morning to open.
The Canteen will be closed Term Two Weeks 1 to 4. The regular volunteers are unable to be on site and we have had no new volunteers.
Mother’s Day Stall: Term Two Week 2 – Wednesday 7th May
The P & C will require some volunteers to make sure this event runs next term. Katherine Wood the P & C Vice President will be running the event, and the items have been purchased and a lot of organization will be completed before hand by the usual volunteers. It is a fun morning event to sell the presents to the children to give. Let us know if you can help for this morning.
Hayward Family - Thank you and Good Luck
Thank you and good luck with your move and new home and school to the Hayward Family. Firstly, Thank you to Sarah Hayward who for years has donated her time and effort to fundraising, canteen and the uniform shop. She has worked as P & C Secretary for many years, and we love her and wish her well. There are not enough thank yous to match how much we appreciate all you have done.
Thank you to Luke Hayward who has a special talent of volunteering without knowing. Your tireless effort at sausage sizzles and stepping up whenever we needed the extra hands has been such an asset and you will be missed.

School Board

The Spearwood Primary School Board was compliant at the first meeting on Monday 17th February with more parents and community members than staff members. We have had to edit the Terms of Reference to a minimum of three parent members, our lowest number ever. We have now lost a valuable member who is no longer able to take the role as the family is moving away from Spearwood.
We are putting a call out to anyone interested in being a member of the School Board. Parents who have been on the School Board always comment on their surprise at the insights they gain on all the behind the scenes work and finances in the school. There are no jobs, just 6 – 8 meetings a year which is once or twice a term. Term two there will just be the one Week Eight Meeting.
We have an Education Assistant who stays to care for the children of any parents at the meeting.
